--I told e they reminded me of the Skids. This was high praise, apparently.
FTC included Jase Robertson, submarine driver, on drums; Perry Pimple on bass/vocals; and Abdul Aziz on AlmostGuitar. We lived in Bowling Green, Ky but played often enough (well, perhaps a little too often) in E'ville. We'd hoped y'all had forgotten all about us, but any ways, our band vehicle was a 1966 VW Beetle dubbed the "hunny comb hideout". We'd cramm all our "modified' crate amps and drumbs into the hideout, smooosh Aziz into the bass drum in the back seat and drive the three hours up to E'ville from pleasant, rural B.G. kentucky. Those of you who saw us pull up ( and can still remember) know this to be true ('specially 'bout Aziz in th' Drum). That drum set was our biggest piece of equipment, and our pride and joy- most of it fabricated of cast-off high school marching band drums. All our other inst. were 'refabricated' also, from cast off instruments- things we found in dumpsters behind music stores-deemed too f'ed up for further use- til' we got a hold of 'em that is. By nescessity then, our music was rather stripped down and uh, drum heavy. The earth under Bowling Green is honey-combed with CAVES and much of our band practice time was spent in one cave or another and in fact, we wrote many of our best tunes whilst spelunking. This is absolutely true. We lived in a cave too! It was called "The Bat Cave".
