ok, wasn't this like a precursor to DuraLuxe , in that it had [i think] MarkEmge, TommyWedge, and prolly JayDitzer, and TroyDaugherty ?! if i'm wrong, which is oh-so-rare [hah!], please add the right info!
polly
The Fontanes were TommyWedge on guitar and vocals, MarkEmge on drums, JayDitzer on guitar, and QuentinBarton on bass. We never took it too seriously i dont think. We were VERY drunk almost all of the time... a 6 pack and a fifth of SouthernComfort at band practice, and then a handful of pitchers and a few shots at the LuckyLady. We wore suits almost all of the time as well for some reason (I think we thought we were extras in the Godfather... which is where the band name is taken from). I dont remember much of The Fontanes to be honest. I have the recordings though... some are pretty embarassing, some are pretty good. Then my parents split up, i quit smoking, I started having heavy anxiety/panic attacks, and then i moved to Nashville. I figure when youre coming down for band practice at 6:00 P.M. with your pajamas still on its time for a change. And none of this had anything to do with DuraLuxe. DuraLuxe just happened to be another chapter in mine and Mark's strange musical history together. TW
Band that included TommyWedge (guitar, songs) QuentinBarton (bass guitar, mustache rides) MarkEmge (drums, insults) and ChadBeachey (vocals). Name taken from “Johnny Fontane” character in “The Godfather.” Wedge wrote some really good tunes for this band.
Beachey left, the Wedge assumed vocal duties and JayDitzer (guitar, comic relief) joined. Rocked Evansville like the proverbial hurricane, and, as noted above, drank like sailors. Ah, youth. Disbanded when Wedge moved to Nashville (then Athens, GA). Memge eventually moved to Chicago (then Athens, GA; then Long Beach, CA); Ditzer eventually moved to Louisville. QB still represents Evansville.
