TheSwing

TheSwing formed in 1990. MarcChevalier played bass, MarkEmge played drums, ChristinaNiednagel sang, and TommyWedge played guitar. They had one album release, "Meaningless." Tensions were pretty high in the band and they found a new singer in, ScotFunkhouser. They were nearly signed to SpinArt records before Scot left, and the Swing completely disbanded.

MarkEmge and TommyWedge went on to form KissyFace with FrancescaSchofield, and later TheFontanes. Mark moved to Chicago, IL and Tommy and Marc moved to Nashville, TN (seperately). Tommy and Mark met up again in Athens, GA and went on to join Duraluxe with fellow Evansville native, TroyDaugherty. MarcChevalier engineers and produces bands in Nashville. Christina was last heard of moving to Minnesota with her husband.

Doug has added several never before released tracks that I uploaded from an archive of songs from our post "Meaningless" recording sessions. The titles can be found here: ShameRadioPlaylist . The recordings feature ChristinaNiednagel on vocals on the first group of tracks and ScotFunkhouser on later versions that I'll upload soon. These are rough mixes that I'm glad I did when I did them, because I have no clue where the master tapes are. If you were a Swing fan, I hope you enjoy these quaint, nearly lost recordings. MAC
I have a few TheSwing tapes. One was a hand dub of Meaningless given to me by Tommy and another is a home made 2 song demo containing "Conversation ..." and "Teardrop ...". 2 of the 3 factory prints of Meaningless are still shrinkwrapped. If these hold any sentmental or archival value to any of the former band members ping me and I'll ship 'em out ... except for my open copy of Meaningless ;-) (what a RYTHMN SECTION !!!!) I have one other dubbed tape simply labeled "Emges Band" with the songs listed as Anything Can Happen in Hollywood / This Way or My Life (?) / City Lights. Good stuff. Let me know if this rings a bell or fills in some gaps. - TE

It's PollyAbrams , glad to see by all your recent posts that you are are another hopeless CrackRabbitAddict !And my favorite thing about TheSwing has to be the pix on the picture page showing MarkEmge in what looks like full-on drag!!haha!I am forced to bring that up since he enjoys teasing me unmercifully!ha! Take care, and be sure to come visit all of us still in Evansville for one reason or another, and especially to see Doug and Bobbie's adorable spawn, DarbyGraceShawhan !!!

I'm pretty sure that "Emge's Band" tape is the Fontaines. I remember hearing that song "city Lights" and thinking it was pretty great. Is there any way I could get a dub of that?
